Job Summary:
Pets Best is looking for a Director, Technology Developer, Business Applications who will play a key role in the Information Technology Development and Operations Team, where the resource supports the organization’s associates and customers across various operational, development, compliance, and vendor management needs. As a Technical App Dev lead, the resource is responsible for systems analysis, application development and implementation, database administration, architecture design, and providing operational support. The resource needs specialization in building and maintaining web and microservice based applications for Pet’s Best and leads several large-scale and ongoing IT projects.
This role is critical to the upgrade of our IT infrastructure and other Pet’s Best-related software projects. To successfully fulfill these responsibilities, the candidate must possess both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in designing, building, and implementing enhancements and modifications to application systems using the various web and microservices based technologies and methodologies. This expertise is typically acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, combined with ten years of application development experience.

Main Responsibilities:
• Lead the design and development of modifications and enhancements for Pets Best’s business applications.
• Design, develop, and implement RESTful APIs using Spring Boot and Apigee or similar technologies and tools to interface with various back-end systems.
• Implement functionalities supporting Pets Best’s customers by utilizing different web and microservices technologies.
• Employ tools such as AXE Monitor and NVDA to develop accessible solutions.
• Analyze and validate complex system requirements, business processes, and existing information systems.
• Develop specifications and program moderately complex technical modules, applications, prototypes, and software programs.
• Evaluate and propose technical solutions to application development challenges.
• Oversee all aspects of application programming and development, particularly in large-scale data structures and databases for file design, updates, storage, and retrieval.
• Develop applications following Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
• Code, test, debug, document, and implement moderately complex software applications in adherence to established standards.
• Lead the migration and maintenance of applications on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure cloud platform.
• Collaborate with business consultants and requirements analysts to support requirements analysis and feasibility studies.
• Implement microservices using Spring Boot to deliver and integrate data for front-end application functionality.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 10+ years’ work experience in supporting business applications, to include training, troubleshooting, and implementation.
• Programming Languages: Java, J2EE or .Net, C#,
• Front end: Angular or any front-end technology, HTML5
• Database: Oracle or Postgress or any other DB technology.
• Version control: GIT
• Build tools: Maven or Gradle
• Ability to liaise with stakeholders across multiple levels across the organization.
