Position Summary
The Director, Salesforce Management and Data Analytics manages the information services support areas, overseeing gift processing, data entry, reporting and optimizing usage of the development database system. The position will report to the Vice President for Office of Institutional Advancement Operations. The Director, Salesforce Management and Data Analytics is also well-versed in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge and NXT systems. This role will oversee the strategic integration of Salesforce CRM and Blackbaud platforms into our enterprise systems, optimizing these powerful tools to enhance business operations and data-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will lead the adoption, customization, and technical integration efforts, ensuring seamless functionality across our CRM landscape. In addition, this role is responsible for managing records including prospects, donors, alumni, friends, corporations, foundations and other organizational records. In addition, the Director works with all staff members to respond to information requests and to enhance the value and use of the information for all development programs, including creating analytical reports to assist staff in assessing their program results. The position directly supervises staff members who provide user support services including gift processing, data entry and reporting. Essential Functions: Lead the strategic integration of Salesforce CRM and Blackbaud systems (Raiser’s Edge NXT ) into the enterprise’s technological framework, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational efficiency. Manage the technical aspects of Salesforce and Blackbaud implementations, including system migrations, software integrations, and custom application developments. Oversee a team of CRM professionals in customizing and optimizing the Salesforce and Blackbaud environments to meet specific business needs. Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to map out and execute integration projects, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations. Develop and enforce best practices in data integration, system configuration, and security to maintain the integrity and security of the integrated CRM ecosystem. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the integrated systems, making adjustments as necessary to optimize business processes. Foster strong vendor relationships to ensure access to the latest technologies and updates from Salesforce and Blackbaud. Provide leadership and guidance on the effective use of CRM features and data analytics tools within the organization. Assume direct responsibility for all development systems and systems services in order to meet short and long‐range goals and objectives of the development office. Process, reconcile, and transmit donations and pledges that come in on a daily basis accurately and in a timely manner. Plan and execute the full implementation of the current development database system. Optimize use of its functionalities to support fund‐raising and constituent relations goals. Work with program officers and directors to identify their information needs. Participate in discussions related to major program planning with annual giving, major giving, volunteer services, auxiliaries, and other program staff members. Establish strategies and plans for the maintenance, use and development of information systems. These will include new technologies and systems that will directly benefit the users and programs of the development operation. Work with program directors to establish and maintain donor acknowledgement services for timely reporting on gifts and to maintain strong donor relations. Develop an annual plan and objectives for the Information Services area. Provide regular communication to program officers and users about systems support projects and services. Develop and implement user training classes to encourage and support the needs of end‐users. Training should include personal computers, all supported software systems, and the development database. Work with the institution’s central Information Technology staff to ensure that appropriate information is shared among administrative systems in compliance with industry practice and institutional policy and to ensure adequate support in system administration. Develop and maintain a high level and standard of service, providing information and user support on development systems. Establish capabilities and standards for providing computer hardware and software support to all development staff and other offices and staff supported by the system. Supervise staff in providing systems and user support. Identify and create areas of expertise and growth opportunities for staff. Develop an understanding of the development’s programs and take a pro‐active role to support them with electronic systems. Maintain an active database and relationship with the software system vendor. Keep informed about product issues and developments. Attend annual user group meetings and recommend changes and enhancements to the advancement systems and capabilities. Input new graduates semiannually as well as new parents of current students to enlarge our donor base. Also, update Employee list, in Raiser’s Edge, by comparing it to a list provided by Human Resources. Supervisory Responsible/Contacts and Relationship: Manage temporary staff and other staff as directed. Daily contact with other Development employees and Business office. Monthly contact with President’s Office via reports. Quarterly contact with the Board of Trustees via reports. Frequent contact with donors and alumni. Serve as SME on issues related to data management, integrity, distribution and analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Extensive experience (5-7 years) in managing integrations of Salesforce and Blackbaud platforms (Raiser’s Edge NXT ) within large enterprises. Proven ability to oversee large-scale IT projects and transformations, including CRM and ERP integrations. Deep understanding of Salesforce and Blackbaud architecture, API integrations, and customization tools. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a multidisciplinary team. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills. Relevant Salesforce certifications, such as Certified Salesforce Administrator or Certified Salesforce Application Architect, and familiarity with Blackbaud certifications. Extensive knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge and NXT , coupled with advanced experience and understanding of Salesforce and PowerBI, as well as inhouse software designed for Foundation and alumni tracking/programming. Excellent knowledge in business communications and financial management. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to act independently and make decisions as required in the absence of the Vice President.
Preferred Qualifications
Master in Data Management and/or Data Analytics SME in database management capacity. A fundraising background that includes Annual, Capital and Planned Gift campaigns. Working knowledge of the administrative and faculty structure of a College/University. Knowledge of IRS requirements in posting and acknowledging gifts.
