SUMMARY
The Director of Sales & Service will oversee all sales and service in the restaurant, gift shop and ticketing. This position is responsible for management of all revenue generating departments and for budgeting and strategic direction. Coordinates with General Manager on budgeting, profit, and loss.
Qualifications
NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of administrative and supervisory responsibilities, including budgeting and accounting procedures.
• Knowledge and understanding of Alaska tourism industry, related markets and opportunities, and methods of organizing and managing tourism businesses.
• Knowledge/familiarity of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Skill in operating personal computer, other technological devices, utilizing a variety of computer software applications.
• Working knowledge/familiarity of tram operations systems.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
• Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
• Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests, those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or closely related discipline, AND
• Three (3) years of combined mid-level managerial, operational, and planning experience (including P&L responsibility, strategic planning, budgeting, and/or HR management) for a business encompassing aerial ropeways, food and beverage, entertainment services management, and/or mountain safety;
• OR equivalent education and experience.
• Current CPR and first aid certificates; drug testing may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Routine movement in/out of an aerial tramway cabin as part of an aerial tramway and lift operation at an 1800 ft. elevation; exposed to inclement weather conditions (rain, wind, snow) constant public interaction and communication; constant exposure to extreme heights; periodic exposure to dangerous equipment during emergency evacuations or power failures.
During emergency evacuations or equipment failure, expected to assist management. Must be able to hike trails to assist management in various emergencies (e.g., medical, missing persons, etc.) Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. of various tram equipment/supplies. The Tram is a non-smoking facility with designated outside-smoking areas.

Responsibilities
ESSENENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Establish sales objectives by forecasting sales quotas for the Food & Beverage and Retail departments, projecting sales volume and profit for existing and new products.
• Build relationships with customers by organizing and developing customer-relations strategies so that guests will have a satisfactory experience when visiting Goldbelt Tramway.
• Answer and respond to complex customer needs and requirements.
• Lead and guide sales professionals to improve the sales of existing and new products.
• Perform product and service analysis.
• Create and develop customer service strategies for Guest Services, Retail, and F&B Managers.
• Jointly, and in coordination with the General Manager, manages and supervises some or all of the four subordinate managers of the retail; food and beverage; guest services and ticketing; and tram operations/maintenance departments. Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, disciplines, and fires staff through the respective departmental managers; oversees and/or conducts employee training and development.
• Develops and implements risk management programs for F&B and Retail departments. Is responsible for planning and administering the Tramway’s compliance with state and federal regulation and permit requirements pertaining to environmental, safety, sanitation, employment, and other related areas.
• Assists the General Manager with the negotiation and administration of all leases and concession agreements; the development and implementation of a long-term business plan and budgeting; the development of new products and ideas for revenue generation; and the monitoring of expenditures and revenue against budget projections.
• With the General Manager, works closely with representatives of the cruise industry in product development and promotion of on-board sales; ensures that relations with shore excursion personnel are excellent.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
