Transition to tenure-trackmay be possible upon completion of the necessaryrequirements.As director of the OEHS emphases program would both oversee andteach in the program under the guidance of the department chair andRocky Mountain Center for Occupational and EnvironmentalHealth.Job Duties:• Lead development of curriculum design to maintain content andstandards• Develop specific OEHS courses – content, prerequisites, creditallocation, and sequencing.• Develop additional courses in OEHS such as Regulatory and LegalCompliance, Incident Investigation and Analysis, HazardousMaterials Management workplace hazards, and/or other subjects tocomplement existing courses in OEHS developed at the University ofUtah.• Identify and implement changes to curriculum made necessary byprogram evaluation or changes in industry standards to includepreparing and submitting changes to department faculty and stafffor approval and submit approved documents to curriculum committees(college and university).• Ensure the development and maintenance of appropriatedocumentation of course content, syllabi, performance objectives,and evaluation tools• Maintain program documents in the university catalog• Lead development of the program appropriate to the needs of thecurriculum and scholarship and research activities of the program.• Identify credentials, knowledge, experience, and skillsnecessary to the development and presentation of curriculum byprogram faculty.• In conjunction with department chair, recruit and hire facultywith credentials, experience, knowledge, and skills necessary todevelopment and presentation of program curriculum.• Develop class schedule for each semester in conjunction withdepartment faculty• Encourage and support scholarship, research, and serviceactivities for each faculty member.• Lead assessment of the program and its outcomes.• Create a program advisory• Prepare and file annual reports for the Office of InstitutionalEffectiveness (annual program review report).• Assist the department chair with the annual reports to the DCHPdean and/or provost, Northwest Commission on Colleges, and theState Board of Regents• Oversee program accreditation, as relevant• Lead analysis of all program reviews by advisory committee,implementing new program goals identified.• Counsel and advise matriculating and prospective programstudents, as needed• Degree planning, graduation evaluation and check-off for allstudents. This may be delegated to appropriate advisors.• Advisement and transcript review.• As part of the expectations for earning tenure, an activeresearch program that involves undergraduate students will also beexpected. Collaborative research opportunities exist through theRocky Mountain Center (https://medicine.utah.edu/dfpm/occupational-environmental-health)and the University of Utah.• This will be a 10-month position to accomplish theadministrative requirements of the OEHS program. Theresponsibilities of the position will be split between teaching,research, and service (60%), and Interdisciplinary Studies for thedirectorship (40%). Depending on experience, this position will beappointed at an assistant or associate professor level.Required Qualifications:Required:• The minimum requirement is a Master’s degree in an allied fieldof Occupational Health and Safety, Safety, Engineering,Environmental Health, Public Health or closely related field.• Evidence of teaching experience.• Experience conducting high-quality research in occupationalhealth or industrial hygiene.• Experience mentoring undergraduate researchers.Preferred Qualifications:Preferred:• The Preferred candidate has a dcotorate in an allied field ofOccupational Health and Safety, Safety, Engineering, EnvironmentalHealth, Public Health or closely related field with applicableexperience.• An interest in using innovative, evidence-based, teachingstrategies.• A plan for conducting high-quality research in occupationalhealth or industrial hygiene which includes mentoring undergraduateresearchers.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Ability to build and manage interdisciplinary connectionswithin the University, the University of Utah, the RMCOEH, localindustries, and government agencies.• Postdoctoral or Industry experience.• Demonstrated experience in developing and managing a courseprogram and designing curriculum.• Success obtaining external funding sources to supportscholarship and/or undergraduate research.Background Check?
