Role Summary
The Data Science Engineer II plays a pivotal role in our organization’s data-driven decision-making processes. This unique role requires a blend of skills from domain expertise in real-world data (RWD), data science competency, and a command of software engineering principles. This individual is responsible for the end-to-end development and deployment of data science applications, APIs, and other business-supporting content. Beyond leveraging their analytical techniques, the Data Science Engineer ensures that solutions are scalable, maintainable, and provide top class user experiences for its users. They maintain a deep understanding of modern software development practices, ensuring optimal performance, security, and user experience.
Responsibilities
• Application Design & Development: Design, develop, and test data science applications ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
• API Building & Maintenance: Develop and maintain robust APIs for enhancing front-end functionalities and backend integration, ensuring seamless data flow and optimal performance.
• Performance Monitoring and User Metrics: Measure and monitor the usage and performance of applications, ensuring they meet predefined benchmarks and standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to align data science applications with broader organizational objectives and infrastructure.
• Documentation: Document application architecture, API endpoints, and usage instructions, ensuring clarity for both internal teams and end-users.
• Research & Development: Stay updated with the latest trends, techniques, and best practices in data science and software engineering, suggesting improvements and new technologies for implementation.
• Problem-solving: Identify bottlenecks, bugs, and challenges within the applications, providing timely solutions and enhancements.
• Presentation: Engage with and present to executives, data science teams, and clinical teams.
Requirements
• MS or equivalent in Computer Science, Informatics, AI/Machine Learning, Data Science or in a related discipline.
• 5+ years experience in an Engineering or Data Science role.
• 2+ years of experience in a role supporting working with clinical data or real-world data (RWD) projects would be a plus.
• Excellent time management skills, contributing to multiple projects with competing timelines.
• Proven experience working with large, individual-level data sets or in a (RWD) data analyst role.
• Strong programming skills in Python and deep knowledge of (RWD) data sets and how best to select the right data sources given the study question at hand.
Preferred Qualifications
• Expertise in React, Next.js, and modern front-end frameworks and technologies.
• Knowledge of Large Language Models and their application in real-world data projects.
