The role supports the End-User Centric IT Support 2 (ECIS 2) contract for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The position is with the ECIS 2 Communications, Knowledge, and Training (CKT) team, based in Windsor Mill, MD (Baltimore).This role currently works 100% remote but is required to be available at local Leidos or customer offices as needed. The position can also change at any time to be required to come into the office more frequently including up to full time.The information technology (IT) that we support through our activities includes hardware such as laptops, monitors, printers, and peripherals, and a variety of IT system and software related applications. Our CKT team creates and implements internal IT communications, knowledge information and training for CMS employees, bringing end user adoption strategies for technical information, products, and services. Our focus is on providing a seamless development, implementation, adoption, and communication experience for the CMS employee community.In this role you will:• Lead and be responsible for communication deliverables as part of overall project and separate communication initiatives.• Work collaboratively as part of the CKT Team and in a matrix environment that includes project managers, IT engineers, quality control, and service delivery professionals.• Be responsible for, and coordinate multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment.• Have a positive, customer-centric, “can do” attitude.• Bring your excellent communications, content, and technical writing skills to create effective, plain language, 508 compliant, compelling, and creative written content.The ideal candidate for the Communications and Technical Writer position will have an interest and background in technology and communications, including content creation in an integrated communications and marketing environment. An understanding of, and experience with creating communication plans and content strategies, including scheduling of multiple deliverables in an omni-channel environment, is important. This position will assist, coordinate, lead, and create various types of written content, including such end-user communications from pilot to full deployment of IT end user initiatives.This position is part of a multidisciplinary team, including technical and content writers, graphic designer, videographer, knowledge, and training specialists.This position includes working with internal program team members, subject matter experts and other vendor and contracting teams.The candidate must be self-motivated, able to work well within a team, and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, building and responding to both short and long-term projects, deliverables, and plans. This position will have direct contact with key customer stakeholders and groups, including discussing and presenting communication solutions. Professionalism is at the core of how we deliver to our customer.Primary ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Sr Manager, Communications, Knowledge, and Training, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:• Write and edit product, service, and project communications, including end-user and strategic planning communications. End products include, but are not limited to, email broadcasts and targeted messages, presentations, signage, internal portal content, digital newsletters, desktop messages and alerts, T0 articles in ServiceNow, ServiceNow workflow notifications, captions, video scripts, FAQs, talking points, and reports or white papers.• Effectively develop, review, copyedit, and proofread content.• Meet with technical staff to obtain additional information required for the documentation.• Successfully learn and apply understanding of technical initiatives and processes into plain language end-user communication, working directly with our technical and service delivery subject matter experts (SMEs).• Bring a creative storytelling perspective to the content creation, working with graphic and multimedia designers to integrate content strategy into overall communications campaign vision.• Consult relevant sources, including subject matter experts, documents (and research), and client and project personnel, to obtain background information and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables.• Work successfully within project teams and manage work independently through these processes, including program level and customer review and approval processes.• Ensure documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhere to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style.Basic Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in writing, technical writing, journalism, mass communications, or closely related discipline.• 4+ years of experience working on technical writing, communications, content creation, or related areas.• Ability to capture technical solutions and translate in technical documentation and end user focused communications.• Strong oral and written communication skills.• Strong collaboration skills to work in a team across multiple disciplines.• Ability to research and organize processes in a concise manner.• Ability to manage multiple assignments.• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.All candidates supporting the CMS programs must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years prior to be considered.Preferred Qualifications• Ability to work to 508 compliance• Experience with human centered design (HCD) framework• Experience working with agile project management including Jira and Confluence• Experience in a similar working environment helpful but not required as new thinking• from other industries or work environments considered a plusOtherPortfolio of work may be requested (print or digital acceptable) as part of the initial application process.Original Posting Date:2024-05-13While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.Pay Range:Pay Range $49,400.00 – $89,300.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
