Our St. Louis office is dedicated to supporting the USACE Formerly Utilized Site Remediation Program (FUSRAP) involved in the cleanup of radiological contamination.We have an opportunity for a creative professional to bring new skills to our Engineering project team and collaborate with our multi-disciplinary project team to apply innovative ideas solving complex environmental projects. This is an on-site hybrid role with in office attendance required 2 days per week or as needed.Responsibilities/DutiesWHAT YOU’LL BE DOINGThe person hired for this role will be responsible for:• Design remediation work plans supporting environmental remediation activities, including soil excavation, site infrastructure, stream restoration, utility modifications and waste management.• Design calculations, data collection and analysis, conceptual site model development, specifications, and cost estimates.• Provide technical support during investigation, planning, design, implementation, and completion (as-built) project phases.• Ability to execute multiple projects and tasks concurrently, while adhering to schedule.In addition, the candidate will be responsible for working with engineers, hydrogeologists, project managers, civil surveyors, and other technical staff in the development of designs, drawings and figures associated with technical documents. Must be a team-oriented person.Required SkillsWHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFULThe ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:• B.S. degree in civil engineering.• 4+ years of civil design experience.• Development of technical drawings, details, and specifications for civil components of environmental construction projects.• Preparation of work plans and project deliverables.• Development of grading plans, cross-sections, 3-D surfaces, and calculation of earthwork volumes.• Excellent communication and organizational skills.• Experience working under detailed quality assurance/quality control programs.• Ability to work in collaborative team to develop design drawings and accurately reflect project approach and requirements.• Ability to work independently and develop design from concepts.• Ability to maintain CAD standards and drawing layer management.• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications.• The successful candidate will be required to possess or obtain OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER certification upon employment.What You Need To Stand Out• Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) registration or ability to obtain is considered a plus.• Experience as Field Engineer or position with similar experience on project sites.• Experience with real-time data acquisition, including surveying and/or GIS capabilities.• Ability to understand and plan for construction planning obstacles, such as utility support.• Knowledge of and experience with RCRA, CERCLA, DoD, DOE, or USEPA projects.• Hydraulic or Hydrology modeling.DetailsMore About Hgl And The OpportunityWe are all unique in our experiences and diversity of backgrounds, yet we share a drive and vision in our belief that we can make a difference in improving the world we live in through collaboration, teamwork, and a positive work environment.
