We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join the executive team of a 38-year-old international manufacturer and distributor of furniture with real estate investments. The ideal candidate will provide strategic financial leadership, coordinate all financial functions, and support the owner with personal investment strategies. We’re looking for a professional who embodies a “work hard, play hard” ethos, values openness and honesty, communicates effectively, and prioritizes results over micromanagement. The role requires a hands-on approach, working closely with a driven and results-oriented founder and CEO.
Leadership Responsibilities:
• Lead the development and execution of financial plans aligned with the company’s strategic goals to ensure profitability and liquidity.
• Propose innovative strategies in a high-growth environment and work closely with operations teams, mentoring and guiding them.
• Deliver clear and compelling presentations to executives and teams, both in person and remotely.
• Provide sound financial and tax advice in collaboration with external experts.
Strategic Focus:
• Continuously enhance financial and operational controls, management systems, and performance metrics.
• Stay ahead of market shifts, analyzing financial aspects of current tactics while refining incentive plans.
• Partner with the management team to drive the company’s strategy, offering deep analytical and financial insights.
• Recommend and implement adjustments to maintain profitability during market fluctuations.
• Assist in negotiating supply chain contracts to ensure timely and cost-effective furniture delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
• Supervise and back-up the Controller to ensure compliance with reporting and tax requirements.
• Oversee IT and HR Directors, optimizing organizational efficiency.
• Develop and enforce company policies and procedures to enhance overall operations.
• Serve as the primary representative for banking, insurance, and external accountants.
• Participate in developing and executing the Strategic Plan and Annual Financial Plan.
• Oversee the company’s 401(k) plan, annual tax return preparation, and business insurance renewals.
• Manage special financial projects and advise on financial concerns to enhance company operations.
• Oversee offices in China, Vietnam, and Malaysia, as well as the administration of a Captive Insurance Company, real estate entities, and fleet requirements.
• Approve pricing on customer contracts, including GAS contracts under FAR regulations.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred.
• 10-15+ years of progressive experience, including roles as Controller, VP of Finance, or CFO, ideally in manufacturing and distribution.
• CPA and/or CMA required.
• Strong negotiation skills with customers, banks, vendors, attorneys, and suppliers.
• Proven ability to delegate, inspire, and motivate teams, create a positive work environment, and provide constructive feedback.
• Sound judgment and the ability to make timely, accurate decisions.
Salary Range: $185k-$210k
