Location Requirement: Remote. Candidates must be a WI resident or willing to relocate to WI prior to starting the role at their own expense.
Under the general supervision of the Security Audit and Compliance Section Chief / Deputy CISO, this position serves as a primary subject matter expert and provides advanced-level technical guidance, special analyses and consulting services on the operations and adequacy of security controls and compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g. Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Federal Tax Information (FTI), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Payment Card Industry (PCI), Social Security Administration (SSA), etc.).
This position is responsible for:
• reporting on whether electronic information systems operated and used by the DET are effectively managed and controlled
• assessing whether the application and general computer controls are adequate and functioning as intended, especially in the area of privacy and security
• recommending and, as appropriate, assisting in documenting improvements to existing or design-stage information systems to increase efficiency or adequacy of controls
• evaluating the adequacy of policies and procedures related to the effective operation and control of the information systems
• facilitating development of responses to external audit findings and the resolution of IT policy and procedural issues
• ensuring compliance with regulatory and other industry standards for infrastructure services provided by DET
The position requires strong communications skills, both verbally and in writing, provides
excellent customer service and consulting to internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to
work with cross-functional teams.

• Advanced-level knowledge of information technology controls.
• Advanced-level skill and experience in IT systems, software, and web-based applications.
• Advanced-level knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and assessment processes.
• Advanced-level knowledge of security concepts, risk management and investigation techniques.
• Considerable knowledge of practices of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association or any other applicable background for the audit of information systems.
• Considerable skill in writing technical, management and analysis reports and papers.
Required Skills:
• Must have at least five years of SIEM Administration experience.
• In-depth knowledge of architecture, engineering, and operations of at least one enterprise SIEM platform (e.g., Splunk, Elastic/Kibana).
• Demonstrated commitment to training, self-study and maintaining proficiency in the technical cyber security domain and an ability to think and work independently.
• Coordinate with the Information Security Team and other SMEs within the program to formulate and implement content-development best- practices.
Desired Skills:
• SPLUNK SIEM SME Certification: Splunk Core Certified Power User or more advanced certification is required within 180 days of hire
