Classification Summary:
The Division Dean is responsible for the development, administration, and promotion of the division and its programs ensuring high quality instruction in a safe and engaging learning environment. The Dean provides academic and educational leadership to the faculty members, students and campus colleagues and is responsible for developing an active teaching/learning community among students and faculty on campus.
Classification Standard Duties:
Serve as leader, administrator, and evaluator of the Division and the programs it encompasses. Promote academic achievement and student satisfaction consistent with established education objectives, quality standards and fiscal responsibility. Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel. Responsible for development and/or administration of budgets in areas of supervision. Serve as liaison between the Division and the community college and university, community agencies, businesses and other groups, advisory committees, state and national groups. Seek/maintain degree program approval from licensing agencies, regional and national accreditation councils.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides academic and administrative leadership in planning, development, assessment of student learning, evaluation, and improvement of instructional areas within the assigned Division.
• Evaluates department chairs and assists in establishing individual and department goals.
• Approves full-and part-time faculty employment.
• Supervises all faculty and staff and participates in their annual performance evaluations.
• Provides recommendations for faculty promotion and tenure.
• Ensures that curriculum is current within the discipline(s) and workplace trends and meets the needs of the community at all campuses and center locations; imitates new programs as determined by strategic planning and needs assessments.
• Provides leadership in course creation, alignment, program approval, certification, and accreditation processes. • Encourages and oversees dual enrollment with local high schools, and transfer initiatives with post-secondary educational institutions.
• Develops and administers division budget; approves and monitors department budgets.
• Administers daily operations of the division at all campus and center locations in a professional manner.
• Ensures that student concerns and issues are addressed appropriately.
• Communicates with the internal and external community regarding the division and college activities and services.
• Participates in professional development activities.
• Serves on teams, committees, councils, and task forces that contribute to the success of the college.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Degree Level: Doctorate or Terminal Degree
•Demonstrated experience and knowledge in community college environments, including a thorough understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the setting.
• Knowledgeable about the current trends in developmental education and general education.
• Experience in the development, assessment, and evaluation of instructional programs within the division, with a keen understanding of the best practices in curriculum development and instructional design.
• Knowledge of and experience with assessment techniques to measure student learning.
• Experience in overseeing annual evaluation and promotion and tenure for faculty.
• Familiarity with the mission of DACC and a dedication to advancing the college’s mission through strategic leadership and decision making.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work with partners across the community college, at university and business and industry.
• Strong background in building partnerships within the community.
• Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with area public school systems, particularly in relation to concurrent enrollment, early college high school programs, and recruitment initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a collaborative team and navigate complex organizational structures.
• Expertise in managing budgets, including budget planning, allocation, and monitoring.
• Bilingual competence in Spanish and English will be considered an asset.
