Under supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director, Facilities, oversee the building maintenance services and events at Schaal Aquatic Center. Manage the day-to-day operation of the Schaal Aquatics Center, including procedures to open, operate and close the Schaal Aquatics Center on a daily basis. In conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director, recruit, select, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate student managers and event management staff.
OPERATIONS- 40% • Manage the daily operations at the Schaal Aquatics Center to include management and oversight of daily opening and closing procedures, scheduling, and facility setup for various user groups. This includes three ICA teams at the Schaal Aquatics Center (women’s swimming, men’s & women’s water polo), intramural sports, sports clubs, a number of competitive community youth and adult groups as well as special events. • Assist in the maintenance and repair of the facility, including all equipment and ground areas. Work with Facility Services to establish preventative maintenance procedures.
EVENT MANAGEMENT – 30% • Manage events at the Schaal Aquatics Center, which includes men’s and women’s water polo, women’s swim and dive and various club and user group events.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY – 15% • Manage purchases of all supplies, equipment, and services for Schaal Aquatics Center. Responsible for the maintenance of all inventories for Schaal Aquatics Center through the campus Capital Asset Management System. • Supervise staff and determine staffing requirements within established budgetary guidelines.
SUPERVISION- 15% • Supervise and oversee the student payroll while working to ensure compliance with University policies. Hire, train, develop position descriptions, assign work, review work, prepare performance appraisals, and if necessary, discipline staff who fall under the purview of this position.
Experience scheduling multiple events in multiple facilities.
Knowledge of a wide variety of recreational and competitive athletic programs and activities.
Knowledge of aquatic facility maintenance and operation, including safety.
Knowledge of athletic facility maintenance and operation, including safety.
Knowledge of athletic event coordination associated with special event management.
Knowledge of computer network and programs including Microsoft Office, registration software, email, and web access programs.
Verbal skills to give instruction and clearly explain policy and procedure and to contribute within diverse meeting formats.
Skills managing and operating large aquatic facilities, including program development and coordination, financial management, supervision of personnel, risk management and aquatic facility maintenance and repair.
