Associate Director of Athletics – Compliance
Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance serves as a senior member of the athletic administrative team and coordinates and leads all aspects of an NCAA compliance and rules education program. The position serves as the primary institutional contact on all NCAA compliance and eligibility issues, with contact with the NCAA, PSAC, and University officials.
The Associate Director will ensure that collaborative and constructive relationships are maintained with various on-campus departments, such as, but not limited to: academics and compliance (Provost, Deans, & FAR), student-athlete support, student-athlete well-being and life skills programming, financial aid, Title IX , etc. This position will provide direct oversight of support services through collaboration with departments across campus to ensure compliance, student-athlete development, academic support, and sports medicine services. There is potential for sport oversight.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
• Serve as a senior leader in the athletics department and Gannon campus community.
• Responsible for administering all systems designed to ensure compliance with the NCAA, PSAC, and University rules and regulations.
• Perform daily NCAA compliance operations of the athletics department.
• Coordinates eligibility activities with Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, and FAR in conjunction with the Associate Director/S WA and Director of Athletics.
• Monitors the student-athlete’s NCAA, PSAC, and Gannon academic eligibility, performance, and class attendance by utilizing reports from faculty and the Registrar’s Office. Coordinates appropriate action with FAR, Provost, coaches, and student-athletes.
• Prepares and distributes the Student-Athlete Handbook and Policies & Procedure Manual
• Ensure that all Athletics and University-related activities, associated with the department, operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
• Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations, including submission of federal and NCAA compliance-related reports.
• Ensure that the department complies with Title IX, government, NCAA, and conference reporting requirements and reviews all data for accuracy.
• Serves as initial contact and, at times, the mediator in conduct-related concerns.
• Assists in the recruiting and evaluation of coaching personnel and support staff.
• Leads efforts to correct or resolve any actions that result in noncompliance or present a risk to department operations.
• Work with university partners to ensure effective integration and collaboration of all Athletics NCAA compliance programs and initiatives with university operations.
• Provide leadership in the focus of the recruitment effort of the University’s intercollegiate athletics program and ensure compliance with NCAA rules and regulations governing the recruitment of student-athletes by providing guidance and/or policies to team coaching staffs
• Work closely with the Athletics Director and senior administration to detail strategic plans and goals, as well as appropriately monitor and report progress on the goals.
• Monitor the implementation of the gender-equity plan.
• Develop and maintain quality relationships with the coaching staff and other athletic staff members by creating effective communication and processes.
• Represent the Athletic Department at respective conference meetings, professional organizations and development meetings, and team post-season travel.
• In the absence of the Director of Athletics, the Associate Athletic Director is to manage the activities of the athletic department.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Two years of experience in an NCAA athletics department at the DI or DII level.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment, student-athlete eligibility, NIL, and related functions.
• Adherence to established NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated organizational and time management skills; and the ability to effectively work independently and as a member of a team; solution-oriented.
Licenses and Certifications : A valid driver’s license in good standing. Per Gannon’s Institutional Policy Manual there can be no suspensions on the Motor Vehicle Record for 5 years prior to being hired.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s preferred.
3-5 years experience.
