Detailed Description:
The Department of Communication at the University of San Diego is seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor with a scholarly interest in human communication. Applicants should have a strong background in communication theory and the foundations of the discipline.
The Department of Communication welcomes faculty members who are innovative in their pedagogical and research approaches to investigating communication. Our faculty members represent the breadth of the discipline. Qualified candidates should take a student-centered approach to undergraduate teaching, and have a strong commitment to the liberal arts. Our teacher-scholar model includes a 3-3 teaching load. Candidates will teach lower-division human communication courses, and upper-division courses in interpersonal communication, health communication, family communication, and/or within their area of research expertise.

Job Requirements:
Candidates will hold a PhD in communication or related fields. ABD candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Qualified candidates should also have university-level teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates are also expected to build and maintain a research agenda, participate in university service, and advise undergraduate students. Qualified candidates who are dedicated to empowering students from Latinx/Chicanx communities through teaching, research, creative practice, community engagement, service and/or mentoring are strongly encouraged to apply.
Posting Salary:
$6,932-7,250/month; Excellent Benefits

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
