The Assistant Director of Championships and Alliances Marketing & Ticketing – Email is responsible for creating a meaningful student-athlete, fan, and stakeholder experience by driving awareness and attendance to NCAA championships and plays a pivotal role in driving the marketing strategies and initiatives for select NCAA Championships, including Division I Women’s Basketball. This position requires a creative and strategic thinker who is well-versed in email marketing, grassroots initiatives, organic and paid marketing campaigns, and data-driven decision-making. Have and maintain a strong understanding of sports marketing, a passion for collegiate athletics, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to maximize the visibility and success of NCAA Championships.
Job Responsibilities
Email Strategy and Deployment:
• Develop comprehensive email marketing strategies to promote NCAA Championships, including segmentation, content creation, and deployment schedules.
• Collaborate with the creative team to design visually appealing email templates and assets that align with brand guidelines and campaign objectives.
• Manage email deployment process, including list management, scheduling, and monitoring deliverability and open rates.
• Implement A/B testing methodologies to optimize subject lines, content, and calls-to-action for maximum engagement and conversion.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in email marketing to continually refine strategies and tactics.
• Work closely with the Director of Marketing to integrate email marketing initiatives with broader marketing campaigns and initiatives.
Grassroots Marketing:
• Plan and execute grassroots marketing efforts to increase awareness and participation in NCAA Championships within local communities and target demographics.
• Collaborate with regional partners, schools, and community organizations to leverage grassroots marketing opportunities.
Organic and Paid Marketing:
• Develop comprehensive marketing plans encompassing both organic and paid channels to drive ticket sales and fan engagement for NCAA Championships.
• Execute digital marketing campaigns across various platforms such as social media, search engines, and display advertising.
• Monitor campaign performance and adjust strategies to optimize reach, engagement, and conversion.
Data-Driven Marketing Decision-Making:
• Utilize data analytics tools and market research to inform marketing strategies and tactics.
• Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and make data-driven decisions to drive continuous improvement.
• Generate reports and insights to share with stakeholders, including senior management and NCAA leadership.
Lead Generation:
• Develop and implement lead generation strategies to expand the NCAA Championships’ audience and drive ticket sales, merchandise purchases, and other revenue-generating activities.
• Utilize targeted advertising, email marketing campaigns, and lead capture initiatives to identify and nurture potential customers throughout the sales funnel.
• Collaborate with ticketing partners, merchandise vendors, and other stakeholders to optimize lead generation efforts and maximize conversion rates.
• Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
• Education Required High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Photoshop/Illustrator experience preferred.
• Professional/full-time experience, with 3-5 years in sports/event promotion and/or marketing required.
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns across email, grassroots, organic, and paid channels.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and insights to drive marketing strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Passion for collegiate athletics and a deep understanding of NCAA regulations and guidelines.
• Proficiency in marketing automation platforms, email marketing software, and digital analytics tools.
• Experience negotiating and managing contract fulfillment preferred.
• Experience working with consultants and/or external agencies preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Association’s governmental structure and functions.
• Estimated Travel Required <20%
• This position will be based out of the national office in Indianapolis, Indiana. Current work environment is hybrid; 3 days in the office and 2 days are remote.
