Emphasis will be placed on recruitment, mentoring Student-Athletes, and assisting with practices to include planning and skill development. The assistant assists the Head Coach in representation of the Swimming and Diving program at intercollegiate athletics, alumni, University, booster club, and fundraising events as needed. This position is required to work mornings, evenings, and weekends. Travel is required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssist head coach with all aspects of the swimming program including organizing and administering the day-to-day operation of the swim and dive teams, home meet preparation and set up, travel, and other duties as assigned by the head coach. Exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior pursuing Swim and Dive program goals set by head coach.Recruitment of potential student athletes via phone, email, or personal contact. This position must be knowledgeable of and in compliance with all NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.Assist the Director of Aquatics with pool management, pool maintenance, and coordination of pool scheduling.Provide support for fundraising activities, community service as well as support for the academic success of the student athletes.QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree• Two years of coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.• A DMV background check is required for this rolePreferred Qualifications• A Master’s degree• Working knowledge of NCAA compliance rules and regulationsAn equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substitutedHOW TO APPLYAll interested candidates must apply online at https://www.stthomas.edu/jobs/.
