The company is currently seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Estimating.
Responsibilities
Position Summary/ Primary Purpose
This position reports directly to the Executive Manager of Sales and interacts/interfaces frequently with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, and Business Development. A majority of the time the Senior Manager of Estimating will be reviewing estimates and ensuring accuracy of costs based on specifications, drawings, and other input from various sources. The Senior Manager of Estimating leads a team responsible for all facets of the estimate assigned including but not limited to: preliminary design, gathering and evaluating quotes, scheduling, and assisting in proposal writing in accordance with the company capabilities and goals. The overall goal of the Senior Manager of Estimating is to confirm the department produces an accurate reflection of costs and to highlight the risks of a project. Once a project is sold, produce an “as-sold” estimate for the project management and delivery team to use as a basis for project implementation.
Major Areas of Responsibility
• Ensure the estimating team prepares detailed accurate material, labor, equipment, subcontracts, construction facilities, cost estimates.
• Participate in meetings, projects and activities in support of company and team goals.
• Perform timely bid submittals.
• Ensure the team develops and reviews subcontractor scopes of work and accept, review, and analyze subcontractor quotes for best value.
• Prepare project bid status reports and ensure compliance with all specifications and contract Statements of Work and Bid Invitations.
• Ensure team conducts a detailed analysis of project specifications and drawings to accurately estimate costs associated with materials, labor, and equipment.
• Working cross-functionally with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather comprehensive details for precise estimation.
• Assist the team in reviewing bids from subcontractors and vendors for conformity to project requirements
• Implementing best practices in cost estimation and establishing protocols for regular updating and revising of estimates.
• Support the team in presenting, explaining, and justifying project estimates to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, new technologies, and government regulations that could affect project costs.
• Ensure the team prepares scope specifications and requirements, prepare and inputs project schedules, perform quantity take-offs, prepare cost summary sheets, and input quantities into estimating software.
• Maintain an accurate, current database cost codes of accounts for historical data.
• Review previous projects and company jobs and compare on a timely basis to as-sold estimates to confirm accuracy of estimate.
• Utilize the appropriate company and industry historical data for pricing estimates.
• Maintain proficiency in relevant knowledge skills and in the use of equipment applicable to the position.
• Manage estimators and administrative personnel in performance of department.
• Other tasks which are in the scope of this position.

• BHS engineering experience and/or technical degree

Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field; or equivalent education/experience.
• 7-10 years estimating experience with 3-5 years management experience.
• Must be able to read drawings and understand and interpret complex specifications.
• Familiarity with material handling equipment and baggage handling systems – not required but a plus.
• Must have good interpersonal skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
