Summary:
• Department of Otorhinolaryngology under the direction of the Manager, Instrument or Sterile Processing, the incumbent supports the decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing of incoming clinical instrumentation, highlevel disinfection of flexible/rigid endoscopes and equipment. The incumbent is a vital member of the team and must adhere to all standards of practice, independently complete daily assignments, and dispatch instruments and equipment as needed. The incumbent will serve as a resource to the team and will be responsible for personal and professional development.
Responsibilities:
Operations:
• Cleans, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes surgical instrumentation, and identifies those in need of repair
• Knowledgeable about all disinfectants and chemical germicides
• Able to reference MSDS
• Demonstrates knowledge of procedures of emergencies for steam sterilization machines
• Follows established priority lists and requests for required instruments
• Makes professional use of downtime
• Seeks supervision when appropriate
• Offers feedback in the spirit of helpfulness

• JACHO Compliance

Staff Training/Orientation:
• Orients new staff to the department and sterile processing processes and policies
• Assist team members with questions and concerns
• Bring to the attention of Management any issue of concern
• Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
• Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization
Credentials:
• Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) Certification CRCST (Required)
• Certification as a Certified Flexible Endoscope reprocessor certified Endoscope reprocessor, with in 18 months of employment. (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
• H.S. Diploma/GED And 2+ years 2-5 years Instrument processing experience. (Required)
