Our client is a small, high-growth start-up in the financial services industry who is looking for an Accounting Manager to join their team. This role will be hybrid and based out of the Las Vegas area.
In this role, you will take ownership of the month-end close process, collaborate closely with business partners across the organization as new products are launched, and drive the implementation of best practices within the Accounting team for our client. You will also tackle daily operational challenges as they come. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of process improvement and a strong desire to help build a dynamic and effective Accounting department.
Responsibilities
• Lead all departmental operations, including month-end close, general ledger management, reconciliations, financial reporting, daily settlements, treasury, and payables.
• Oversee the monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate preparation and timely delivery of statutory and financial reports and analytics to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage, mentor, and support the professional development of team members.
• Collaborate closely with the Finance team to provide critical insights and enhance visibility into financial results.
• Contribute to the development of accounting processes and procedures for new product launches.
• Conduct research and document technical accounting treatments as required.
• Coordinate and manage interim and annual financial audits in partnership with external auditors.
• Act as the primary liaison with external tax preparers for annual federal and state tax work papers and filings.
• Continuously identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Qualifications/Experience
• 7+ years of experience in public accounting or related industry roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
• CPA certification required
• Deep understanding of US GAAP, technical accounting standards, and internal controls.
• Demonstrated ability to streamline processes and establish accounting functions for new product initiatives.
• Skilled at managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail and organization.
• Experience in public accounting, public companies or start-ups
• Experience with NetSuite.
• Intermediate Excel skills (SUMIFS, index match, pivot tables, v-lookups)
• Highly adaptable and enthusiastic, thriving in ambiguous environments and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth.
• Previous experience in implementing accounting processes and procedures for new product lines.
• SQL experience would be advantageous
