The Scientific Communications and Strategy team within Cardinal Health Marketing & Engagement drives the creation of high-quality documents and strategic insights that contribute to the overall success of our business. Our team of scientists, writers, and graphic designers collaborate with internal business units and Pharma/Biotech clients to conduct real-world evidence research, advisory boards, focus groups, and other market research projects that address complex topics relevant to advancing healthcare. Scientist medical writers provide content creation and execution of market research activities that address critical issues in the world of oncology, primarily, but also within rheumatology, ophthalmology, neurology, and other areas as we continue to grow as an organization.Currently, we are looking to fill the role of a Scientist III Medical Writer on our team. The individual who accepts this role should be a highly motivated scientist with previous experience in life science research who is ready to produce quality, data-driven content for a variety of communication purposes. At Cardinal Health, we firmly believe that collaboration is key; are you ready to own your work as a member of a mission-driven and dynamic team?Location• Remote, work from home• Travel up to 15% as required by the business (which could occasionally involve travel over a weekend day)Responsibilities• Communicate medical/technical information to targeted audiences (e.g., pharma, provider, general population)• Support internal publications (conduct background product/disease state literature reviews; write manuscripts; facilitate comment resolution with authors; review and revise manuscripts per editor comments; etc.)• Work with internal colleagues and external clients to establish realistic timelines for the development and execution of the content-related components of projects and successfully complete high-quality deliverables• Create data-driven content (slide decks, discussion guides, etc.) for live and virtual events• Attend live and virtual meetings to ensure the successful execution of content strategies created by the Scientific Communications and Strategy team• Prepare summaries (e.g., topline, executive, or final reports) and other requested deliverables post live/virtual events• Attend research conferences and create news briefs that outline important scientific findings in the realm of oncology (and other clinical areas, as appropriate)• Develop relationships with key opinion leaders by collaborating on content and publications• Create disease state decks• Create content for promotional and digital communication piecesQualifications• An advanced degree in life sciences or a related field is highly preferred (e.g., Master’s, PhD, PharmD, DO, MD, or DVM)• Experience in clinical or research-based oncology is strongly preferred• 1 year of experience within the pharmaceutical or medical industry highly preferred• 3+ years of experience working as a scientific or medical writer (or experience writing abstracts and manuscripts while working as a research scientist) is highly preferred• Experience in other clinical (rheumatology, urology, neurology, gastroenterology, etc.) or basic science research (neuroscience, genetics, cellular biology, etc.) areas is also a plus• Qualified applicants will be asked to submit two writing samples and may also be asked to complete a writing exerciseWhat is expected of you and others at this level• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal• Strong technical and mechanical writing skills• Excellent data interpretation skills• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and build relationships with a cross-functional team of project managers, business development leads, other writers, editors, physicians, and clients• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment• Self-motivated and able to work autonomously to manage timelines and multiple projects simultaneously, while being a key contributor to high-functioning and collaborative teams#LI-LP#LI-remoteAnticipated Pay Range $92,100.00 – 131,600.00 USDBonus Eligible – NoBenefits: Cardinal Health offers a wide variety of benefits and programs to support health and well-being.• Medical, dental and vision coverage• Paid time off plan• Health savings account (HSA)• 401k savings plan• Access to wages before pay day with myFlexPay• Flexible spending accounts (FSAs)• Short- and long-term disability coverage• Work-Life resources• Paid parental leave• Healthy lifestyle programsApplication window anticipated to close : 07/14/2024 * if interested in opportunity, please submit application as soon as possible.Candidates who are back-to-work, people with disabilities, without a college degree, and Veterans are encouraged to apply.Cardinal Health supports an inclusive workplace that values diversity of thought, experience and background.
