McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston is recruiting for a tenure-track Assistant professor to join our faculty in the Department of Neurosurgery to advance research in cancer biology, with a focus on brain metastasis and neuroimmunology.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in developing and utilizing both in vitro and in vivo models to explore the mechanisms underlying brain metastasis, including the role of innate immune cells and energy metabolic signaling pathways.
Responsibilities include conducting innovative research, securing external funding, and mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The successful applicant will also contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, developing and delivering courses related to cancer biology and scientific research methods.
Position Key Accountabilities:
• Leading cancer-related research projects, mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and applying for independent grant funding.
• Developing and delivering courses related to cancer biology and scientific research methods, and contributing to the academic community through teaching and research.
• Engaging in collaborative research studies.
• Providing training to residents and fellows, and supervising medical students.
Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field
• Minimum of two years of postdoctoral research experience.
• Strong track record of research demonstrated by significant publications and awards in the field
• Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to advancing excellence in academia
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong potential for a leadership role within Neurosurgery.
