DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER – STURTEVANT, WI
The Development Engineer is responsible for developing marine products. Develop and conduct tests on components, systems and complete vehicles. Collect, analyze and interpret data. Employ disciplined methods of root cause problem solving and corrective action implementation. Work in a team environment with Engineers, CAD Designers and Technicians. Interface with manufacturing, after-sales support and supply management to resolve issues and develop new products.
YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
• Development and testing of mechanical and mechatronic systems that support engine operation – including fuel injection, lubrication, cooling, air and exhaust handling, sensing and actuating devices, associated control systems, crank trains, gearcases, hydraulics, and mechatronics.
• Participate in design & development activities to execute project milestones in a gated NPD process including concept creation, drawing release, prototype builds tooling release, design validation, production validation, and production launch
• Develop validation plans, perform tests and contribute to the decision making process for the design architecture.
• Collect, analyze and interpret data. Compile the data into executive summaries and reports that efficiently communicate the technical issue and recommended actions.
• Model mechanical systems in Matlab / Simulink and correlate models to experimental data.
• Employ disciplined methods of root cause problem solving and corrective action implementation.
• Perform on water boat testing of marine products and record results.
• Interface with manufacturing, after-sales support and supply management to resolve issues.
• Work in a team environment with Engineers, CAD Designers and Technicians.
YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Required:
• Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering and 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Matlab or equivalent, FEA / electronics, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
• Able to operate in a hands-on, innovating environment where technical solutions are not always known, where the path is not always traced, and objectives are not always predefined.
• Strong analytical skills: Able to compile data into usable forms, recognize patterns in data, information, or events, draw logical conclusions, and make recommendations for action.
• Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Initiative: Demonstrated track record of initiating and successfully implementing projects or ideas.
• Interpersonal skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of individuals and departments.
Preferred:
• Experience with engines or powertrains is a plus.
• Strong interest/knowledge of recreational products. Experience with boats and powersports is a strong preference.
