Position Overview:Solid Power is seeking a Quality Engineer II/III to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of electrolytes for the next generation of all solid-state batteries. The preferred candidate will have hands-on experience in the statistical analysis of quality data for chemical manufacturing, and a strong background in the development of work instructions, standard operating procedures, and specifications. The Quality Engineer will document and communicate production processes so they may be replicated, ensuring that all processes and products comply with industry and safety regulations.Job Duties:• Develops sampling plans by applying attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods using DOE as necessary. Provides statistical information for quality improvement by identifying testing methods and samples.• Analyzes data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests. Prepares reports and makes recommendations for process improvements.• Regularly monitors the production processes and equipment to assure quality. Writes and revises standard operating procedures and production documentation in collaboration with operations departments.• Provides cross-departmental engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques. Reflects key learnings within DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans and management of change activities.• Facilitates and promotes use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.• Runs small to medium capital projects.Education and Experience:• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline• 3 – 5+ years of experience in quality or process engineering.Qualifications/ Requirements:• Battery or chemical manufacturing experience highly preferred.• Knowledge of PFMEA and DFMEA required.• Expertise with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, PowerAutomate, PowerApp) highly desirable.• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (e.g. IATF 16949, ISO 9001) preferred; expertise in automotive quality standards desirable.• Experience with new product introductions and in transitioning products from R&D to high volume manufacturing is highly desirable.• Exceptional mechanical aptitude (i.e. intuitive understanding of mechanical processes).• Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.• Structured problem solving and analytical skills including strong technical skills in statistical tools such as Design of Experiments.• Self-motivated rapid learner, who thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment.• Excellent project management, communication, and organizational skills.Physical Requirements:• Prolonged periods of sitting at a deskSalary Range: $71,000-$120,000Benefits: Solid Power offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision insurance, employer paid Life/AD&D/STD/LTD insurance, 401k with company match, paid holidays, PTO, up to six (6) weeks paid FMLA leave, cell phone reimbursement and eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity plans.The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.All offers of employment at Solid Power are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.No soliciting from staffing agencies.
