The Senior Manager of Product Data Strategy will help to inform the baseline for product data health across the enterprise and contribute to building the roadmap to achieve world-class data maturity. You will be working to define a data management North Star based on unique requirements within each business vertical and be an educator on best practices between various systems. You will also be pivotal in ensuring that the product taxonomy in PIM serves the needs of multiple eCommerce customer portals and is the source of truth for product data across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
Define Product Data Strategy
• Refine and prioritize business requirements across verticals and systems
• Identify gaps in data model efficiency and scope level of effort required to address
• Define user workflows within and across systems
• Contribute to product data roadmap tailored to specific nuance of each vertical
• Drive alignment on which data points are mastered in each system
• Assist in establishing the proper flow of data between systems
• Create a playbook for item onboarding and activation
Facilitate Collaboration
• Run point on key relationships with data partners
• Assess deliverable quality from data partners against defined expectations
• Drive consistent vocabulary across teams so everyone speaks the same language
• Build peer relationships across SRS to facilitate effective knowledge sharing and avoid duplication of effort
• Evangelize taxonomy best practices to teams that leverage taxonomy including Search, SEO, IT and Marketing
Measure & Summarize Progress
• Determine metrics for use in tracking progress towards data maturity against baseline (once established)
• Articulate to various audiences how each vertical is tracking towards data maturity goals
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
• Foundational if not proficient understanding of PIM, ERP, and DAM
• 3+ years of experience in taxonomy development and management with a firm understanding of best practices
• Thorough understanding of hierarchical product taxonomy structures, metadata schemas, data governance, and data modeling best practices
• Ecommerce experience in a B2B or B2C environment
• Detail-oriented professional with a passion for data management and product information
• Able to clearly communicate with people of different experience levels and backgrounds
• Manage multiple workstreams effectively to meet deadlines & the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Master’s degree in library science or equivalent professional experience preferred
