Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Body Weld Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Production Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage technical operations, systems, and projects for a designated process area within the Body Weld Department.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Body Unit Weld department’s objective to ensure that all Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost targets are achieved and tracked utilizing FMDS tools (KPI Management).
What you’ll be doing
• Lead by “Safety First” mindset, Toyota Way, and TPS Principles.
• Support development and execution of annual plans aligned with company and department hoshin goals.
• Analyze KPI’s and identify/facilitate kaizen activity.
• Lead technical problem-solving activities related to process equipment and new technology integration.
• Support Production and Maintenance departments to solve system/process problems and implement countermeasure activity.
• Be a technical resource for production, maintenance, and quality to support manufacturing operations and standardization through documentation, training, and audits.
• Report to management, internal and external, on project status
• Coordinate and manage supplier/contractor activity, including equipment specification, job scope, expectations, safety, and schedules.
• Conduct Feasibility Study and Risk Assessments prior to process & engineering changes being made.
• Develop technical instruction to ensure quality requirements are met.
• Interact with outside groups (Stamping PE, Paint PE, Assy PE, Facilities, etc.)
What you bring
• 2+ years of plant-level experience in an automotive manufacturing environment including prior experience with equipment automation
• Bachelor’s or higher in Engineering or an Industrial Technology Degree with 5+ years of equivalent professional experience
• 2+ years of experience with planning multiple projects and utilizing project management skills
• 2+ years of experience with technical specifications, and implementation of major and minor equipment and/or process changes
• Experience leading and coordinating problem-solving activities related to Safety, Quality, Productivity, and/or Cost
• Experience leading/participating in cross-functional projects or problem-solving teams
• Proven experience with the MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends & July / December holiday shutdowns as necessary
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 5% of the time both internationally and domestically
Added bonus if you have
• Prior Toyota experience
• Experience working in body weld production engineering (TMNA or NAMC)
• Experience with the implementation of new technologies to improve process efficiency
• Experience writing project justifications (Ringi), cost reduction activities, and project management
• Robot and/or Vision System Programming and/or Toyopuc / PLC experience
• Experience using AutoCAD or other CAD software
