Role Summary
Pfizer and BioNTech’s COVID vaccine (COMIRNATY) is FDA approved in the U.S for ages 12+ and transitioning from Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to commercial launch for other age groups. The U.S. launch during each peak vaccine season is critical to the future success of our Vaccines BU.
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Comirnaty Performance and Access Lead, this individual will lead US market access strategy development. This includes developing and recommending strategies for payer launch planning and readiness across US payers. This also includes developing a comprehensive approach to how the brand should be positioned and represented as part of the US Vaccines portfolio.
This candidate will coordinate closely with critical partners from US Vaccines organizations including the US Adult, Pediatric and Adolescent marketing teams and Trade teams for ensuring brand initiatives are coordinated among the brand teams with a customer centric view and vaccines portfolio opportunities are fully leveraged. The candidate will work in an integrated way with the US Vaccines Market Access organization and Vaccine Account Management Team driving portfolio access and contracting strategies, initiatives, payer engagement, and communications to align on payer messaging, reimbursement solutions, and other customer facing services that are implemented across the portfolio such as reminder recall or adherence programs.
Candidate will also work closely across functional teams (Patient & Health Impact, retail contracting & innovation marketing, account management, policy, corporate affairs, medical, BAI, etc.) to support US market preparation and seasonal launch execution, and will ensure all payer related milestones are developed, tracked, and achieved on time
Role Responsibilities
• Is accountable to develop payer strategies in close coordination and partnership with US vaccines market access team and also Vaccines Accounts team to ensure product access strategies, reimbursement solutions, other adherence initiatives and seasonal programs are well coordinated from a customer centric view in an effort to maximize our respiratory vaccines portfolio approach in the US market. This includes presenting our pricing strategy and supporting data to payers.
• Manage Access seasonal Launch Playbook to ensure critical path access deliverables are achieved to ensure launch readiness
• Accountable to design, develop and implement an immersive pharmacy experience that educates customers about mRNA vaccines, aids them in their decision-making process and provides additional resource with the ultimate goal of more customers opting for COVID vaccination
• Collaborate with mRNA Commercial Development, US Vaccines Market Access and Patient & Health Impact teams to develop US Payer access strategies and payer launch readiness plans for COVID vaccines
• Develop payer channel and customer insights to inform launch access strategies and annual operating plans
• Define critical processes and timelines across payer types to establish rapid access, coverage and reimbursement
• Develop payer segmentation and prioritization plans with defined customer engagement timelines
• Develop payer value proposition and associated messaging platform, to foster the prioritization and utilization of the late stage assets upon FDA approval
• Support channel optimization planning across retail channel including supporting in contract offer development & internal training.
• Develop & execute comprehensive Payer tactical plan to ensure appropriate promotion across channels and across in store, digital, and non-personal promotion including working with media lab across vaccine brands to maximize presence and in partnership with the consumer team to ensure strategies are coordinated.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience required, or Master’s degree and 9+ years of experience, or Ph.D./PharmD and 7+ years of experience required
• Familiarity / experience in the US market is required
• Strong project management, coordination skills across large groups of cross-functional teams and country teams
• Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable
• Demonstrated collaboration and informal influencing skills
• Champion innovation, seek learnings from other brands and other industries to innovate and enhance launch plans
• Ability to prioritize, manage important versus urgent and complete what’s most important
• Be an active contributor to create and operate in an environment that continuously embraces and encourages the implementation of innovative ideas and fosters a culture of collaboration and teamwork
Preferred Qualifications
• MBA or advanced degree preferred
• 5+ years pharma experience preferred
• Prior vaccines experience helpful, but not required
• Prior experience in the pharmacy, retail or employer space highly desirable
• Prior experience with US and/or global product launch excellence planning
• Simplicity advocate; actively uses simplicity principles in personal ways of working
• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to adapt and operate successfully

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $161,600.00 to $269,400.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. • The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $145,400.00 to $242,400.00.
