Department Summary
The California Workforce Innovation, Support, & Education-South (CalWISE-S) is currently comprised of 10 graduate social work schools, and associated BSW programs, located in Southern California. In collaboration with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and CalWISE-N, CalWISE-S provides pre-service and in-service support, training, and preparation for social work students and workers at social welfare agencies.
Position Summary
The California Workforce Innovation, Support, & Education-South (CalWISE-S) Applications Developer reports to the Custom Student Information System (CSIS) Administrator and will support the design, development, and continuous quality improvement and maintenance of a custom student information system (CSIS) consistent with the execution of CalWISE’s mission and goals. The CalWISE-S Applications Developer, under the supervision of the CSIS Administrator, collaborates with CalWISE stakeholders to ensure the CSIS meets their diverse and dynamic information needs, as well as to optimize performance, reliability, scalability, security, and integrity of the CSIS architecture and data. Using a customer-service approach, the Applications Developer delivers technical support, resolves procedural and technical issues, and is responsible for the planning, testing, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting of updates, custom user interfaces, email triggers, and automations in support of the CSIS. The Applications Developer assists with change management processes, documentation of architecture and processes, data security and integrity controls, and user management for the CSIS as needed. In consultation with appropriate CalWISE stakeholders, the CalWISE-S Applications Developer performs highly complex data modeling, performance and integration testing, data backups, and custom user interfaces builds as needed.

Qualifications
• Equivalent combination of education (at least a Bachelor’s degree) and substantial applications programming experience. (Required)

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as member of a multidisciplinary team across cultures and internally within a diverse and dynamic institution. (Required)
• Demonstrated skill to identify, assess, and plan for risks that could impact a project’s schedule, budget, and/or quality. (Required)
• Demonstrated advanced skill to identify, assess, and plan for risks that could impact a project’s schedule, budget, and/or quality. (Required)
• Demonstrated technical support and change management experience within a Salesforce environment across multidisciplinary team members and stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge and skills across Mac and Windows operating systems. (Required)
• Demonstrated skill and experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop implementation plans within Salesforce and integrated third-party apps including to build a Partner Site(s) with Community/Experience Cloud. (Required)
• Demonstrated at least 3 years of experience building efficient, reliable, and scalable architecture in Salesforce and modernizing data collection and storage systems for dynamic and diverse information needs (e.g., APIs, webhooks, Salesforce Data Cloud, and Mulesoft) (Required)
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in applying best practices in data management, governance, and integration techniques within Salesforce and other third-party apps with perseverance, drive, and keen attention to detail. (Required)
• Demonstrated skill in database tuning, querying, and modeling with numerous objects in Salesforce. (Required)
• Demonstrated advanced skill in configuring, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting email triggers and automations, as well as public-facing web design and building custom user interfaces in Salesforce (LWC, Visualforce) and integrated third-party apps (Qualtrics, Alchemer, QuestionPro). (Required)
• Demonstrated experience performing and monitoring procedures and processes to ensure compliance with data security and confidentiality requirements. (Required)
• Fluency in SQL and at least one or more data-relevant programming languages/utilities (e.g., PL/SQL, Java, MariaDB, Python, Hadoop, C, C++, etc.). (Preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
• Bachelor’s Degree Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, information technology, or related field. (Required)
• Salesforce Platform Developer (I & II) and/or Salesforce Architect certifications Upon Hire (Required)
