SUMMARY: The Sr. Business Data Analyst (SBDA) is a critical function within the Advisory & Strategic Initiatives Management (ASIM) division that reports directly to the Business Risk Advisory Officer. The SBDA primarily supports all First Line of Defense (FLOD) risk management activities carried out by the Business Risk Officer while also supporting the data analytics needs of the ASIM division. The SBDA will assist in identifying, evaluating, and monitoring numerous risk taxonomies as it relates to the various strategic initiatives undergone by the Bank. This role works closely with front-line bankers and line of business personnel to execute this mandate as well as second-line risk management colleagues. This role is responsible for leveraging data analytics to support the bank’s risk management strategy. This role involves applying advanced data analysis and statistical techniques to evaluate risk across various first-line business units, enhance predictive modeling, and improve decision-making processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
• Utilize data mining techniques to collect, process, and analyze large datasets related to risk exposure.
• Develop predictive models to forecast risks and outcomes that potentially impact the bank’s operations and financial stability.
• Collaborate with IT and data science teams to enhance data collection procedures and improve the quality of analytics.
• Ensure compliance with data governance and protection standards to maintain data integrity and security.
• Prepare detailed reports and visualizations for senior management to illustrate insights from complex datasets.
• Prepare and maintain complete documentation of risk control processes and methodologies.
• Collaborate and work with stakeholders in coordinating monthly 1LOD Operational Risk Reporting, which includes data analytics and risk management activities through GRC tool.
• Monitor and analyze KRI’s within the business units and assist in developing standardized reporting.
• Provide input and ongoing feedback with respect to the development of all risk management activities, including in-business monitoring and testing.
• Ensure all written and verbal communications initiated by the team are professional, clearly spoken and written, consistently, and accurate.
• Prepare and analyze reports to identify deficiencies.
• Build cohesive relationships with various departments and key individuals across the organization.
• Confer and cooperate with appropriate internal departments to ensure coordination of activities meets strategic objectives for Bank.
• Work independently while functioning collaboratively as part of a larger team.
• Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
• Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
• Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
Experience
• 3+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in the banking or financial services industry Proficiency in analytical software and programming languages such as SQL, R, Python, and Tableau preferred.
• Banking experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
• Must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of operations, client relationship, risk management and strategic planning with a strong working knowledge of bank regulations and back-office processes and systems.
• Must also have above-average writing skills, be proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
