Position: Laboratory ManagerThe Laboratory Manager will oversee all aspects of the Laboratory Department and testing within a Critical Access Hospital here in Washington State. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic testing, supervising personnel, managing budgets, ensuring quality assurance, procuring supplies, negotiating contracts, selecting and maintaining equipment, complying with regulatory agencies, maintaining policies and procedures, and managing laboratory coding and billing.Key Responsibilities:Perform diagnostic testing procedures for disease diagnosis and treatmentSupervise laboratory personnelAdminister budgets and manage quality assuranceProcure supplies and negotiate contractsSelect, purchase, and maintain laboratory equipmentEnsure compliance with all regulatory agenciesMaintain laboratory policies, procedures, and coding/billing processesRequirements:Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and cleanCompletes annual organizational and job-specific educational requirementsMaintains regulatory requirementsWears identification while on dutyAttends staff meetings and/or reads all meeting minutesReports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated timeMaintains employee/patient confidentialityRepresents the organization positively and professionallyParticipates in department performance improvement activitiesDemonstrates the mission, ethics, and goals of the organization and departmental Scope of ServiceCommunicates courteously, respectfully, and helpfully with patients, guests, family, and staffMaintains a clean, safe, and accident-free environmentQualifications:Education:Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or BiologyLicensure/Certifications:American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certificationCurrent Health Care Licensure in the State of WashingtonExperience:Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a clinical laboratory of an acute care hospital (in non-waived testing)One year of supervisory experienceMeets CLIA classifications: Technical supervisor (high complexity testing) for all areas excluding immunohematology; General supervisor (high complexity testing) for immunohematologyPreferred Qualifications:Three years’ experience in laboratory managementExperience with regulatory and accreditation of laboratory operationsExperience with the Cerner electronic health record systemBilingual in English/Spanish
