The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of patent prosecution experience and a strong background in computer science. Coursework at the graduate or undergraduate level in artificial intelligence, virtual reality, machine learning, natural language processing, blockchain, and/or bioinformatics is required. An advanced degree with a focus in artificial intelligence is preferred, and prior technical experience at an AI company or startup is beneficial.Job DutiesPrepare, file, and prosecute patent applications in the United States and internationally.Conduct patentability, state-of-the-art, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses.Draft responses to office actions from patent offices.Collaborate with inventors and clients to understand and document new inventions.Advise clients on patent strategy and portfolio management.Conduct due diligence for patent portfolios in mergers and acquisitions.Stay updated on changes in patent laws and regulations.Work with patent examiners to advance the prosecution of patent applications.Assist in the development of new patent prosecution practices and procedures.Requirements2-3 years of patent prosecution experience.At least a BS in computer science or a related field.Coursework at the graduate or undergraduate level in artificial intelligence, virtual reality, machine learning, natural language processing, blockchain, and/or bioinformatics.Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Education and CertificationsJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the state bar in Texas.Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree with a focus in artificial intelligence.Prior technical experience at an AI company or startup.SkillsProficiency in patent research tools and software.Strong writing and drafting skills.Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines.Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.Knowledge of patent laws and regulations.BenefitsComprehensive healthcare plans.Life insurance.Health savings accounts (HSA).Flexible spending accounts (FSA).Wellbeing programs.
