Title: Control Room Operator

Compensation: $60 – $65/hr
Job Summary
PIC Group has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Control Room Operator at a natural gas-fired simple cycle power generation plant near Los Angeles. The Control Room Operator is responsible for managing all operational facets of the plant, which includes ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment. The Control Room Operator oversees the safe and efficient startup, operation, and shutdown of plant equipment from within the control room. Additionally, the operator may provide input on Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities, plant enhancement projects, contract requirements, plant owner requests, and third-party actions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Observe and control equipment, circuit breakers, and switches as needed for the safe and efficient plant operation, including opening, locking, and tagging for isolation and maintenance.
• Oversees air and water emissions, ensuring compliance with acceptable limits, and promptly notify the Shift Supervisor and/or plant management of abnormal conditions, especially those that may breach regulatory requirements
• Monitor and record plant operating parameters within the control room; make adjustments as necessary to maintain safe and efficient operations.

• Work with the Auxiliary Operator in start-up, operation, shutdown, and abnormal situations outside the control room.
• Identify, troubleshoot, correct, and report on conditions potentially leading to operational problems or safety hazards.
• Perform tests on critical safety systems as directed, including lube oil pumps, turbine valves, turbine system trips, and per missives
Job Requirements
• The ideal candidate should be capable of reading and comprehending corporate programs, policies, procedures, plant drawings, and instructions specific to the Operations & Maintenance Agreement.
• Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of power plant operations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
• Ability to comprehend corporate programs, policies, procedures, and instructions pertinent to the Operations & Maintenance Agreement
• Knowledge of mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment.
• Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills for identifying, analyzing, and recommending solutions
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and organizational capabilities
• Sharp analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
• Prior experience operating GE LMS100 simple-cycle gas turbines
Physical Requirements
• Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift (up to 75 pounds).
• Hearing ability to detect plant alarms and equipment conditions.
• Ability to see to assess plant operating conditions and avoid hazards
• Occasional exposer with moderate to high noise
Education / Experience
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• 3+ years experience as a Control Room Operator in a power generation facility
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $60-$65.
