Job Description Overview:
Residential Life Instructors (RLI) reside on campus and are responsible for cultivating a core-value aligned living and learning community outside of the academic day. The cultivation of this community is achieved through:
• Attentive stewardship of the physical condition of the house and the community living spaces
• The provision of creative, intuitive, and relevant programming for the students, including house meetings, residential life curriculum, and visual displays.
• Developing and maintaining student-centered routines that promote wellness, care for the community living spaces, and respect for residents of the house
• Working to develop individual relationships with each student and their parents so that they feel known and a sense of belonging
• Maintaining oversight of the individual growth goals for each student with an emphasis on executive functioning skills and personal wellness.
• Plan, design, and deliver lessons (whole group, small group, or individual) to foster learning necessary skills to achieve communal living and personal wellness expectation.
• Fostering partnership and communication with the parents of each student
• Work in professional cooperation with other RLIs to ensure consistency in language, expectations, and support of students.
RLIs provide supportive oversight in one of three residential houses, shaping the environment into a community in which students can learn and grow. RLIs serve on both weekday and weekend shifts, with the division of these duties determined by the house team. RLIs work closely with other faculty and staff to ensure a cohesive experience across the student experience while providing engaging recreational and educational opportunities for students. They are also responsible for writing a nightly summary of students’ behavior and progress throughout the night, to be shared with other residential and academic faculty. RLIs are an integral part of students’ experiences with the school, providing a unique and comprehensive perspective on each student’s personal growth and development.

• The position reports to the Director of Residential Life
• Weekly Friday Residential Life Meetings at Lunch
• The term is aligned to the student calendar (September-June), with 7 weeks of breaks embedded in the school year. Pre and Post term staff meetings occur prior to student arrival and after student departures.
