POSITION SUMMARY:
The Inkjet Applications Engineer is responsible for taking customer requirements and determining the technology, equipment, and processes required to achieve those requirements via the development and production of printed samples. Our business is extremely diverse, requiring us to address a wide variety of markets. This includes a steady diet of new and challenging fluids, substrates, and machine integrations. The engineer will need a deep understanding of inkjet, and a broad multidisciplinary background. It will also be necessary to understand the limitations of our solutions capability and to expand those capabilities where possible. This can take the form of new tools or processes or developing new inkjet subsystems.

Works on problems of moderate scope which are often varied and routine where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ability to gain a thorough understanding of target applications and expected jetting performance to meet customer requirements via the design, selection, and implementation of the following:
• Printmode
• Test patterns
• Waveforms
• Print screen and masking algorithms
• Ink & substrate compatibility
• Operates laboratory printing equipment to produce samples for customers, marketing, and for development engineers.
• Analyzes, evaluates and plans methods of approach and organizes means to achieve the solution of complex jetting operability and inkjet system design issues.
• Provides clear and concise documentation of test processes. Accepts input from all sources when determining procedures. Trains technicians on new and revised procedures. Provides day-to-day support of testing activities.
• Drive verification and validation of sample development process through the creation of Application Lab test plans, working with technicians, performing tests, analyzing data, and meeting project goals by developing creative solutions to problems.
• Strong interest to work in a hands-on laboratory environment, the ability to accurately measure printhead performance, and provide detailed analysis of results.
• Works with technical staff to create & implement documented procedures for sample development & production in an ongoing effort to standardize and improve lab procedures.
• Work with the field support team to achieve successful installation of equipment and troubleshoot customer issues. This may include some travel.
• Utilizes a host of different methods and tools required for the optimization and characterization of image quality.
• Image creation and modification using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and other open-source tools. Modifications commonly needed to transform customer-provided images in such a way that the RIP on Fujifilm printing equipment will produce necessary printed results.
PERFORMANCE TARGETS/EVALUATION MEASURES:
• Increased ease of use for FUJIFILM Dimatix printhead products
• Success of new strategic application programs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Minimal guidance of technicians.
QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.

• Advance knowledge of MS Office programs and Adobe Creative Cloud suite is desired.

• May potentially handle hazardous waste in accordance with the safe work practices defined in Hazardous Communication and Hazardous Waste training programs. Initial training is required upon hiring status and every 3 years thereafter. Employees handling hazardous waste will insure that waste containers in their work areas are properly labeled and dated. Employees will ensure that waste containers are closed after transferring waste to them. Report any incidents involving hazardous waste to supervisor.
